I recently read Issac Asimov's iRobot -- which put a positive spin on technology and the future -- and find myself also fatigued by a constant negative outlook on social media.

However, we're certainly siloed off from each other and living in our own little echo chambers. My question, then, is this our choosing or the work of social media algorithms that have dug deep into our information? Maybe a bit of both?

Gavin Wood certainly has a negative view of social media and maybe I let him influence me too much for this article -- as I've never sat in a Silicon Valley meeting.
