I've always found it funny that Plato believed Democracy was the second worst form of government, behind Tyranny.

He believed an Oligarchy, Aristocracy or a Timocracy were better forms of government. I might disagree with him here but it certainly reaffirms the complexities, idiosyncracies, and frustrations of governing a society.

Also, I believe, just like many of us, Plato was tired of seeing the negative aspects of a Democratic society.
